Step 1 - Vision
The first step is to thoroughly understand company vision, goals and strategy to ensure alignment of the workplace transformation strategy. Once understood it is critical to create tangible value drivers between strategies (parent/child). These value drivers form the shared goals of the transformation project team. The key to success of an integrated project team (who often have competing agendas) is to align vision, goals and outcomes. The transformation vision is the north star for decision making as the team works through their work plans. It’s the glue.
Typical activities within this phase include: leadership interviews and workshops, corporate strategy review, market/competitor analysis, key stakeholder interviews and a review of leading/lagging indicators and other KPI’s + targets.
The change management (awareness phase) ideally should commence before the Vision phase so people understand the context for the investigative activities. It is also important the project controls the narrative from day 1 to avoid rumours and assumptions.
